En-counter

Dining and counter space for En-Counter at EXP._Teahouse

En-Counter is a concept imbued with the seasonality of Shizuoka. Like the seasons, the chef also rotates. These chefs, changing guard every 3-6 months, are tasked with utilising the ample fresh produce that Shizuoka is known for. Using these ingredients, they will bring to life elevated yet comforting, Japanese-Western concepts, interwoven with their own unique culinary DNA.

Japanese-Western dishes prepared for EXP._Teahouse guests
EXP._Teahouse is a building that refuses to choose an era. Designed by a Tokyo architect in the 1960s as a modernist statement: a brutalist concrete shell wraps around warm tatami rooms.

Raw exterior meets classical interior in a dialogue that was radical then and remains rare now.

EXP. takes the original spirit of the building - a space for gathering and contemplation and evolves it. Dining, creative residencies, and intimate events now inhabit the same rooms where tea was once poured.
