Over the past few years, SLEEEP has had the privilege of collaborating with HSBC to promote employee well-being through engaging and informative webinars. This partnership continued to thrive in 2024 with the introduction of the “Mastering Sleep: The Essential Guide to Sleeping Better” webinar series. The initiative was designed to empower HSBC employees with the tools and knowledge needed to enhance their sleep quality and overall wellness.
Led by SLEEEP’s Co-Founder Alex Kot and Sleep & Performance Coach Cavan Chan, the series garnered remarkable interest, with nearly 800 employees registering to attend. 🚀 Over the course of three dynamic sessions, participants delved into practical strategies for addressing common sleep challenges such as insomnia and stress-related disruptions. Attendee feedback highlighted 86% of the group that is struggling with falling asleep and staying asleep.
The 2024 series is built upon the strong foundation of SLEEEP’s previous collaborations with HSBC, offering fresh perspectives and impactful solutions tailored to the needs of modern professionals. Each session provided a quick assessment of the group before embarking on a deep dive into critical aspects of sleep health, emphasising actionable takeaways that could be immediately integrated into daily routines.
Highlights of the Webinar Series
Let’s take a dive into the highlights of our webinar series 👨🏻💻
Understanding Sleep Fundamentals
The first session introduced participants to the science of sleep, exploring why quality rest is essential for physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Topics included the role of circadian rhythms (Click here to find out your own personalised circadian rhythm), the impact of sleep cycles on recovery, and how to identify barriers to restful sleep. Participants learned how to assess their current sleep habits and make small, meaningful adjustments.
Overcoming Sleep Disruptions
In the second session, the focus shifted to common sleep challenges, including insomnia and stress-induced disruptions. Attendees received practical guidance on relaxation techniques, mindfulness practices, and how to create an optimal sleep environment. Did you know that insomnia statistics highlight the ongoing belief that worrying has increased in working professionals, causing a lack of sleep? In the Philippines alone, 56% of people reported having trouble falling or staying asleep during the night. The session emphasised the importance of consistency and self-awareness in building better sleep habits, to counteract these percentages.
Sustaining Sleep Wellness
The final session centered on maintaining long-term sleep health. Participants explored strategies for managing external stressors, balancing work-life demands, and adapting their routines to support sustained wellness. The discussion also covered the benefits of tracking sleep patterns and using technology responsibly to enhance rather than hinder rest.
Empowering a Culture of Well-Being
The “Mastering Sleep” series represents more than just a webinar programme; it’s a reflection of HSBC’s commitment to fostering a culture of well-being. By prioritising employee health and supporting initiatives like SLEEEP’s, HSBC demonstrates its dedication to empowering its workforce to thrive both personally and professionally.
For SLEEEP, the partnership with HSBC underscores the importance of education and collaboration in addressing critical wellness topics. Sleep health is a foundational aspect of overall well-being, and programmes like this help bridge the gap between knowledge and action, enabling individuals to take charge of their health.
As the positive feedback from attendees continues to roll in, SLEEEP looks forward to expanding its impact through future initiatives with HSBC and other forward-thinking organisations. Together, we can continue to drive meaningful change and promote a healthier, more balanced approach to living and working - starting with how we spend half of our days — asleep. 😴
