Day 2 - Tokyo > Yugawara
Train Travel
What is the best way to traverse the Tokaido Trail? Well..The Tokaido rail line of course! Stretching approximately 515 kilometers from Tokyo to Kobe, is one of Japan's busiest and most important railway routes. Traversing through scenic landscapes, bustling cities, and historic towns, the line serves as a vital artery connecting major urban centers in the Kanto and Kansai regions. Renowned for its punctuality, efficiency, and modern amenities, the Tokaido Line provides passengers with a convenient and comfortable means of transportation, offering a glimpse into the dynamic and diverse tapestry of Japanese culture and society along its route.
From Tokyo Station to Yugawara Station, it takes about 2 hours, part of which is on the orange Tokaido Line. There is also a Shinkansen (high speed bullet train) to the nearby Atami if you are looking for a quicker route, but we suggest you enjoy the scenic route on the Tokaido Line.
